4 Days — Front Landscape Bed Renovation & Lighting Upgrade

Overhead view of the renovated Anderson Residence front bed: a curved aluminium edge, natural cedar mulch, layered plantings and a natural moss boulder.

This project involved a full renovation and extension of the front landscape bed to transform a bare entry area into a clean, balanced design that enhances curb appeal both day and night.

The existing bed was expanded and reshaped to create a more symmetrical layout, allowing for proper plant spacing and a stronger visual connection to the home. Select materials were removed and hauled away, and the area was fully prepped for new installation with attention to grading, soil health, and long-term performance.

New bed lines were cleanly defined with durable aluminum edging, creating a crisp transition between turf and planting areas. The soil was amended and conditioned to support healthy growth, and the bed was finished with a natural cedar mulch for moisture retention and a polished appearance.

A variety of trees, shrubs, and perennials were installed in layered groupings to provide structure, seasonal interest, and year-round color. A natural moss boulder was incorporated as a focal element to add texture and visual weight to the design.

To support the new plantings, a drip irrigation system was installed for consistent, efficient watering, along with buried downspouts to improve drainage and protect the foundation.

The project was completed with a professionally designed LED landscape lighting system, highlighting key trees, plantings, and architectural features of the home. The lighting was zoned and controlled to enhance nighttime ambiance while maintaining flexibility and energy efficiency.

Result:

A fully rebuilt front landscape that elevates curb appeal, improves drainage and irrigation, and delivers a refined, welcoming presence—day and night.

Looking straight down on the finished Anderson Residence front bed: a curved concrete walk, fresh dark mulch, new shrubs and grasses, and a boulder set into the planting.
The front bed from above before planting: bare soil cut to its new curve, the drain trench and buried downspout runs still open.
The same front bed from above, finished: mulch, young shrubs and grasses in place and new sod laid to the curve.
